There are many ways you can help Trans Media Watch. You don’t have to be trans or intersex to do so – we welcome support from allies as well.

Because we are a small, volunteer-run organisation we will never be able to catch every trans or intersex related item in the media directly. If you see something you think we should be concerned about – or something you think deserves praise – please let us know. You can do so through the contact page on this website or through Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn.

Like every small charity, Trans Media Watch struggles to fund its work. We welcome donations of all sizes and are grateful to those people who have undertaken sponsored events in order to help us.

When one member of our team asked Jonathan Ross why he made jokes about trans people, he told her it was because he could get away with it, and he found that surprising. Many trans and intersex people are so used to being insulted or misrepresented that they don’t bother to complain. It’s time for that to change. You can help by speaking up. We will always be ready to advise if you need help to do so effectively.

TMW uses the stories of ordinary trans and intersex people who have had bad experiences with the media to help work towards change. We never do this without permission, but if you would like to contribute your story, get in touch and we can discuss it. You don’t need to use your name and we can remove other identifying details if you want us to.
